The Dog – Intelligent or Educated?

An attentive, intelligent dog closely observing its surroundings Good day. Is there actually a difference between an intelligent and an educated animal? Imagine a dog that has so far spent its time in a kennel without experiencing much. As soon as it comes into experienced hands, it begins to observe its surroundings closely. It scans, so to speak, everything that happens around it. It sees how the owner opens the door and quickly realises that the rewards are stored in the cellar. It looks like pure intelligence when it manages to open the doors with its paw in order to reach the basement. There it grabs a packet and eats the treats right up. I would like to help you caringly nurture your dog's amazing abilities.

Consciously learning a procedure in everyday life

One could speak of education if this procedure were deliberately trained into a gifted animal. However, it would not only be education but rather unwise to teach a dog something like this. Then again there are dogs that caringly encourage a guest to go with them into the cellar and give them a reward. The animal leads the visitor to the shelf and looks up expectantly. Should the person not understand the intention straight away, the dog may jump up at them and show its request even more clearly. According to experts, this represents a successful combination of intelligence and education.

Reaching the desired goal directly without training

True intelligence means coping with a new challenge straight away. The animal grasps the situation and, in carrying it out, finds the way to the goal directly. The especially gifted four-legged friends even adapt these insights so that the result fits their life even better. For example, there are dogs that deliberately choose their sleeping place in the hallway in front of the shoe cabinet. They know very well that the people have to pass by there, since no one leaves the house without shoes. This way they notice immediately when a walk is coming up. Many dogs also prefer to lie in such a way that they always have their people in view. When all family members are present, they can sleep peacefully. In our holistic view, this social intelligence is extremely valuable.

  • Quickly grasping new situations and daily routines
  • Deliberately using observations for their own advantage
  • A caring adaptation of behaviour to the habits of their people
  • A combination of natural talent and learned experience

Dogs are experts in facial recognition and expression

In fact, almost all dogs are true masters at caringly reading the facial expressions of their humans. They notice immediately when you try to outwit them. The more intelligent animals in particular are hard to deceive. Our furry friends largely keep their own view of the world to themselves. They are, however, able to reach deep into our emotional world. In a wonderful way they know how to influence us and sometimes even lovingly manipulate us. We at DOG FIT hold this deep connection and the mental fitness of our four-legged partners in extremely high regard.

This article serves as general information and as caring entertainment about the amazing cognitive abilities of our dogs.
