Hyaluronic acid for dogs

Hyaluron for dogs

Hyaluronic acid is one of the body's own glycosaminoglycans and a natural component of connective tissue. It plays a role in normal joint function, skin elasticity, pressure stability in the musculoskeletal system and moisture retention in the intervertebral discs. As a dietary supplement, it is ideal for supporting joints, cartilage, intervertebral discs and connective tissue – both preventively and when mobility begins to decline.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid has become known as the anti-ageing wonder weapon of the cosmetics industry - but this substance can do much more. Hyaluronic acid is an important component of natural connective tissue that belongs to the glucosaminoglycans. Hyaluronic acid is normally present in the body as a long-chain polysaccharide and fulfils a variety of chemical and mechanical functions in the organism.

How does hyaluron work?

Hyaluronic acid is usually present in the body in free form, although it is also capable of forming larger molecules. It improves the water-binding capacity of cells and can increase the pressure resistance and stability of tissue. In this function, hyaluronic acid supports the intervertebral discs and cartilage, among other things, and increases their ability to bear weight and absorb shocks. At the same time, hyaluronic acid is an important component of synovial fluid, also known as synovial fluid, and increases its viscosity. This reduces friction within the joints and is responsible for the transfer of nutrients to the joint cartilage.
