The dog in our modern world

Our dogs are no longer wild animals (which has advantages and disadvantages), they often live in an asphalted, civilized environment, many do not move enough, often have too little opportunity to follow their minds and their own needs and Instead of hunting, for human convenience they often get unhealthy and unhealthy ready-made food from a can or sack. Despite all this, they often live longer than their wild relatives. Because orthopedic problems, dental and metabolic diseases would be a death sentence for wolves.

Fortunately, we can support our dogs into old age. Make sure that your dog stays slim, has enough exercise and mental stimulation and feels comfortable in his “pack of people” and don’t wait too long if something is wrong. In the area of prophylaxis and therapy support, we from DOG FIT by PreThis® offer selected preparations, which I of course also use myself.

Our loyal companions for thousands of years

The dog is by far the oldest domestic animal; dogs have been around for at least 15,000 years, making them almost twice as old as cattle, sheep, goats and pigs and much older than domestic horses and cats. But – and this is unique in natural history – Stone Age people and wolves had already lived in close communities for around 100,000 years. Wolves joined us voluntarily, they domesticated themselves, so to speak. And they also had an influence on our development!

I think it's a shame that many dog lovers today are turning away from purebred dogs because, unlike works of art, this living cultural heritage cannot be preserved. It only lasts as long as people carry it on. Accordingly, I have had very special breed dogs with a Shiba Inu, an Akita Inu and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. There was also a German Shepherd of the old breed: long-legged and upright. And now I breed miniature pinschers. Of course, every mixed breed has its rightful place at our side and there are so many who are still looking for a place.

Love of dogs from an early age

Originally we were just looking for a nice, easy-care dog that our son could work with at the dog park could. My sister's Schnauzers ("Black Miniature Schnauzers from Kirbachtal") were too hairy for me, but she drew our attention to the Miniature Pinschers: an old breed that is rarely seen anymore. The spirited, smart dogs seemed to be just the right fit for our son. Although of course too boring for me. Yes, I actually thought that, how clueless!

Today I breed out of conviction: what a great, unjustly forgotten breed! Lively without nervousness, calm despite all his temperament, self-confident, robust without any sharpness and ready to perform like the best German Shepherd. In addition, physically and mentally healthy, with a harmonious, natural building. Like a wolf – only very small!
