Vitamin B for dogs
Vitamin B is not a single substance but a group of eight vitamins. Chemically they have little in common, but they share two properties: they are water-soluble and are barely stored in the body.

The group comprises B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid) and B12 (cobalamin). The numbering has gaps because some originally counted substances later turned out to be already known or not to be vitamins at all.
B12 is a special case: it is formed exclusively by micro-organisms. Neither plants nor animals can produce it. It is found in animal foods only because bacteria produced it beforehand.
Why water solubility determines the handling
The body does not stockpile water-soluble vitamins; it excretes surplus amounts via the kidneys. That makes regular intake more important than a high single dose. The only exception is B12, which is indeed held in the liver over a longer period.
What B vitamins are valued for in your dog's diet
B vitamins contribute to normal energy metabolism, in other words they help to obtain energy from food. B1 and B6 contribute to the normal function of the nervous system.
Riboflavin (B2) contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. B6, B12 and folic acid are involved in normal blood formation.
Why B vitamins are often in stabilised form
B vitamins are sensitive. Riboflavin breaks down under light, thiamine does not tolerate heat, folic acid reacts to oxygen. They could be obtained from a natural source, but by the end of the shelf life little of the declared amount would often be left.
For complementary feed a stabilised form is therefore usually used. It is chemically identical to the natural one but protected against light, heat and oxygen. The practical advantage: what is on the pack is still there months later. With a group of vitamins that has to be supplied daily, it is precisely this reliability that counts.
