Wellness with your dog
When it is foggy, cold and damp outside, we humans are drawn to the warmth. Then we most like to visit a wellness hotel now and again. And the dog? Don't worry, because by now there is a solution for this too. There are more and more wellness hotels in which dogs are allowed. It is worth taking a look on the internet. Some tips are worth considering. If the hotel you have chosen asks before arrival about the size, the breed and even the name of the dog, this is not a nuisance but a sign of professionalism.
Enjoying wellness with your four-legged friend
On the day of arrival, you should already take a long walk with the dog before checking in, so that it can test out the new surroundings and still do its business. Then the first sauna session can be enjoyed straight away without a guilty conscience. I recommend that you specifically ask about themed trails and walking routes. If dogs are forbidden in the restaurant, many wellness hotels offer separate rooms for dog owners or also lay a table in the bar. There, dogs are usually allowed, and it is actually much cosier too. A room with garden access is ideal for dogs, so that they can stretch their legs in between as well. You should also hang the room sign in front of the door, with which the staff are warned about the dog in the room.
- Clarifying breed and size already at the time of booking
- Exploring the surroundings before the first sauna session
- Using dog-friendly restaurant areas and bars
- Choosing a room with garden access for more freedom
Dogs enjoy relaxing massages too
Massages for the dog as well as a separate, gluten-free and, what is more, freshly cooked menu for the four-legged friend are offered ever more often by four-star establishments. If the dog likes to lie on the sofa – perhaps even against the rules – you should please always have a large dog towel with you. It is also important to carry the dog's vaccination record, in case an emergency should arise. A helpful piece of advice from me: use the necessary walks with the dog as a sporting session before and after the wellness. That way both sides get something out of it and can spend the day in a relaxed manner.
