Canine fun at home in bad weather

Canine fun at home in bad weather When it is stormy, raining or even snowing, it is not very pleasant to be outdoors with your dog for long. But not every dog is content to lie about and sleep all the time. Making something together is a fitting solution here. Quite simply, you can fill the inner tube of a kitchen roll with a treat and fold the ends inwards.

Simple crafting ideas for more variety

This is quick to do – and there you have it: the “prey” is an object to be taken apart, inside which the treat wants to be found. It works the same way with toilet paper rolls. You make it harder by filling only three out of ten rolls and folding the ends inwards; usually everything is still found quickly nonetheless. After that comes unwrapping parcels: you fill an old package with newspaper and hide a treat inside. Even if the parcel is taped shut, the dog has great fun until he has shredded everything and discovered the treat.

Movement games and dexterity in the house

Climbing over cardboard boxes is also a good exercise that trains the dog's legs. A particularly funny game: hide a treat under a larger, round plastic bowl. The dog has to manage to push the bowl against a wall so that it stands up and he can get at the treat. Your four-legged friend can also crawl under chairs or play ball.

Here is how the ball game works in detail: you sit down on the carpet, the dog stays opposite you in the down position. Then you play a ball to him, which he picks up and brings back. After a while the dog is, in our experience, tired, so that a short walk is enough for him – and in this weather you too can make yourself comfortable.
