An invisible dog fence?
If you have a garden, you will surely make sure that a fence is in place. Sometimes that is not the case, and recently an invisible garden fence has been on offer. It consists of a cable, a base station and a receiver that the dog wears. Only small flags are visible, marking the fence. When the dog approaches the fence, it is warned with a beep. If it nevertheless carries on, there is an electric impulse that increases as it walks on further. It is stated that this system learns and, based on the data, determines an average value for the current.
A mobile fence for more flexibility
With this, a garden can be fenced in without a fixed fence being necessary. It can be understood rather like a fence for a sheep pasture. That is also available with a fine mesh, and it can essentially be had for any size of dog. The posts are pushed into the ground and can be removed again at any time together with the fence. In this way the dog can enjoy a safe and pleasant little spot.

Reaching for the heights, in humans and dogs
That dogs can jump well is of course known. But how high can they actually jump? For comparison: the human world record of 2.45 metres cleared has been held for almost 20 years by the former Cuban high jumper Javier Sotomayor. A puma, on the other hand, can jump up to 5 metres high from a standing position. And our dogs? The breed naturally plays a big role here. You also have to decide whether it is a free high jump or whether an obstacle is to be cleared.
How high do dogs actually jump?
For the free high jump, the record stands at around 1.73 metres. It is held by the bitch Cinderella May a Holly Greya from the United States of America. The high jump record over a smooth obstacle stands at 3.58 metres. A German Shepherd named Volse showed this remarkable performance at a dressage show in Avignon, France. Recently a female pit bull from Mexico also became known for managing to run up a wall around 4 metres high. That should make you reconsider how high the garden fence at home ought to be.
